A military helicopter crashed in Qatar, killing all seven people on board, authorities in the Gulf state have confirmed.

Officials reported that all bodies were recovered after the helicopter went down due to a "technical malfunction" in Qatar's territorial waters on Sunday.

Among the victims were four Qatari military personnel, one Turkish serviceman, and two technicians from a Turkish defence company, according to statements from Qatar and Turkey.

The crash occurred during a training exercise, and the cause is currently under investigation.

Turkey maintains a military base in Qatar under a defence agreement signed between the two countries in 2014.

Qatar's interior ministry expressed its "deepest condolences" to the families of the victims in an official statement confirming all seven on board were found dead.

Turkey's defence ministry stated that the Qatari military helicopter was "carrying out a training exercise as part of the Qatar-Turkey Joint Forces Command." The two technicians were employees of the Aselsan defence corporation, the ministry added, noting that Qatari authorities will determine the exact cause of the crash.

This incident comes amid ongoing wide-ranging strikes by the US and Israel against Iran, with Tehran responding through attacks targeting Israel and US-allied states in the Gulf.
